It's a big city that we live in with a BIG city government! NYLS focuses mainly on past and present actions of the City Council, and City Rules and Regulations.
We are the only source for legislative histories on NYC Local Laws!
Our staff regularly publishes the City Report on current City Intros and new Local Laws. And City Regs Newsletter summarizes proposed and finalized rules and regulations every 2 weeks. We also publish the New York City Legislative Annual- a compilation of all the new Local Laws and their corresponding Committee Reports, and various other information.
Our sister organization, the Center for New York City Law, has numerous free databases for public use.
The really great thing about NYLS is that you can talk to an experienced, live researcher, not spend a lot of time wandering around databases looking for something you're not sure of!
